Let’s Play the Label Game!

I’m always encouraging people to become “label readers.” Admittedly, this can seem a daunting task. There are so many ingredients in packaged foods with strange names, how do you know which ones are good for you and which ones aren’t?

A great place to start when playing “the label game” is with the following four ingredients: MSG, Partially Hydrogenated oils, High Fructose Corn Syrup and Aspartame. Chances are, if the product is free of these, it is likely free of other poisonous substances. In any case, eliminating or dramatically reducing your intake of these four things will not only improve your health, it will change the way you eat!!

Until you become familiar with these ingredients and their aliases, it is helpful to write them on a note card that you can take with you to the grocery store.
